Mtera Secondary School is located 120 kms north from Iringa town and 135 kms south of Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania. It is found in the Iringa Rural Highland Zone.

The school follows the curriculum and regulations governing the schools in Tanzania. The school was established in 1998 and is registered with the Ministry of ducation and Culture under No. 1049. The school is a centre for the National Examiner from Council No. S-1202.
