| Mtera Secondary School
is owned and operated by the Lutheran Diocese of Iringa and the
current headmaster is Reverend Newton Maganga. The school is open to
students from all faiths regardless of their economic status, gender,
or race. There are many needs to be addressed, yet the outlook is
hopeful. Located in the Iringa Rural Highland Zone, the school is 120 kms north of Iringa and 135 kms south of the capitol city of Dodoma. The grounds of the school are surrounded by scenic Balboa and Acacia trees. It is a rocky terrain with large stones of granite and quartz lying amidst the region. Situated near the Mtera Dam, the school reminds the surrounding communities that education is important for the survival of all Tanzanian people. These communities consist of fishermen and pastoralists whom are currently not concerned with education -- still the school operates at capacity. This site is graciously donated to the Mtera Secondary School by Christi MacPherson. Christi has been granted permission by the headmaster, Reverend Newton Maganga, for the usage of the content on this site. |
